Long ago, there was a woman named Judy. She made clothes, and she sold the clothes in the market.

Judy sometimes worked late at night to make clothes. Making clothes is hard work. And she had to make a lot of clothes to sell in the market.

One night, she was making clothes. It was very late. Suddenly, she heard a knock on her door. Then, a voice said, “Judy, please let me in. I am cold and hungry!”

Judy thought it was a lost child, so she opened the door. But it was not a child who came into the house. It was a black cat.

Judy gave food and milk to the cat. Then, Judy let the cat sleep by the warm fire. While the cat was sleeping, Judy began to work again.

A few hours later, the cat woke up. The cat said to Judy, “You have been very kind to me. I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was cold, and you let me sleep by your fire.”

The cat said, “Judy, you are in danger. You must stop working late at night. Nighttime is the time for fairies, not for people. The fairies do not like people, and they are angry at you.”
