Saci had one leg, a red pipe, and a red hat.

The red hat was magic. When Saci wore the red hat, he could disappear!

Saci liked to play jokes. He often scared hunters when they came into the woods. He made loud noises in the forest. Sometimes he would yell, or he would throw a rock.

When the hunters turned around, Saci would disappear. The hunters thought a ghost lived in the woods!

Saci played tricks on greedy hunters who hunted more what they need. Saci also punished hunters who hunted birds that have eggs in their nest.

One day, Saci saw footprints on the ground. Saci followed the footprints to a big tree. Then, the footprints disappeared!

Saci looked around. There was nobody anywhere! Saci was scared. He said, “I think it is a real ghost!”

Then, Saci heard someone laughing. Saci asked, “Who are you?” The person said, “I am Curupira!”

Curupira jumped out from behind the tree. He was a green dwarf, and his feet were backwards! Saci was happy to find a new friend. Since that day, Saci and Curupira play tricks on children who travel deep into the forest alone.
