Once upon a time, there were two friends, Darren and Chris.

One day, they were walking to town. The road to the town went around the woods.

They were walking for a very long time. Chris said, “Let’s take a shortcut through the woods.”

Then a large bear came up behind them! Darren and Chris yelled loudly, but the bear did not run away.

Chris ran to a tree and tried to climb it to safety.

Darren tripped as he tried to run away. He was on his back, looking up at the bear. Chris did not try to help Darren.

The bear walked over and poked Darren in the belly.

Then the bear whispered into Darren's ear and walked away.

Chris climbed down from the tree. "What did that bear say?" he asked.

Darren said, the bear told me this: "Your friend is not a real friend, he left you alone in a difficult time."
