Hansel And Gretel
Page 1
Once upon a time, there was a brother and sister. The boy was named Hansel, and the girl was named Gretel. They loved to play together.

One day, Gretel said, “Let’s take a walk in the forest.” Hansel said, “We will get lost!” And Gretel said, “No, we will be OK. I have bread crumbs. We can drop them.” Hansel said, “Good idea! We can follow the crumbs to go home.”

So Hansel and Gretel walked happily in the forest. They did not look behind them, so they did not see the trouble. Small birds were walking behind Hansel and Gretel. And the birds were eating all of the bread crumbs!

Later, Gretel said, “It is getting dark and scary!” And Hansel said, “We should go home!” They turned around, but there were no bread crumbs. “Oh, no,” they said. “The bread crumbs are gone! We are lost!” And they walked in the dark forest.

They kept walking in the scary forest. Then, they saw a house made out of candy! "I am hungry," said Hansel. “We can eat that candy-house.” Gretel said, “No! Stop!” But Hansel had already started eating the house.

Suddenly, an angry witch came out of the house. She was yelling “You are eating my house, so I will eat you!” The witch locked Hansel in a cage, and she made Gretel feed him. The witch said to Gretel, “When your brother is fat, I will cook him and eat him.”

A few months later, the witch looked at Hansel. She said, “You are fat enough to eat.” Then, the witch told Gretel to make a fire in the oven. “I don't know how to make a fire” said Gretel.

The witch said, “Stupid little child! I will show you how to do it.” The witch put her head in the oven, and she lit the wood. Suddenly, Gretel pushed the witch inside and closed the oven door!

Gretel helped Hansel out of his cage. They grabbed the witch's jewelry box and ran away. The witch burned up in her oven, and the candy-house melted. The witch would never catch and eat children again.

Hansel and Gretel saw a big swan. The swan said, “Thank you for killing the witch. Now, I will take you home.” The children climbed on the swan’s back. Then, the swan flew to their house. Hansel and Gretel lived with their family happily ever after.
