Long ago, there was a man named John Roy. He was a very good man, and he always told the truth. So, everybody called him Honest John.
Page 2
One night, Honest John looked up. He saw many small lights. He knew that they were fairies. He saw that the fairies were carrying a big bag.
Page 3
Honest John knew that fairies loved to trade things. Fairies did not care about making good trades. They only liked to trade. So, Honest John tossed up his hat, and he said, “Let us trade!”
Page 4
The fairies took Honest John’s hat, and they gave him the big bag. Honest John opened the bag, and he saw a woman inside! He took the woman to his house.
Page 5
Honest John made dinner for the woman, and they talked. The woman said, “I am married, and I have a son. But I cannot remember their faces.” The fairy magic made her forget.
Page 6
During the next few weeks, Honest John and the woman traveled to many towns. They were looking for her husband and her son. But nobody knew the woman.
Page 7
Many years passed, and the woman never found her husband and her son. She lived near Honest John, and she became his helper.
Page 8
One day, two men came to Honest John’s house. The older man said, “We have traveled very far, and we are tired. Can we sleep here tonight?”
Page 9
Honest John invited the two men into his house. He said, “You can stay here tonight. My helper will cook dinner for you.” Then, the woman came into the room.
Page 10
The two men were very surprised and happy. The woman was happy, too. The two men were her husband and her son. Finally, they were together again!
