He watched the eagle land on top of a crag where it had a nest. The boy went closer to look. He saw that the eagle was very big and it had a snake in its beak.
Page 3
The big eagle flew away and the boy climbed up close to the nest. He saw an eaglet playing with a dead snake. But the snake was not really dead.
Page 4
Suddenly it opened its mouth and showed its fangs! The snake pulled back its head with its mouth open wide, ready to bite the eaglet.

Quickly, the boy pulled out his bow and arrow and killed the snake. Then he picked up the eaglet and started to go back down the mountain.

Then, from above, the boy heard the sound of the mighty eagle’s wings flapping. “Why are you taking my child?” asked the eagle. “The child is mine now,” said the boy. “I saved him from the snake.”
Page 7
“Give me back my child and I will show my gratitude,” said the eagle. “You will have the sharpness of my eyesight and the full power of my wings. You will be invincible and will be called by my name.”

So, the boy handed over the eaglet and made his way down the mountain. Whenever he looked back, he could see the eagle, carrying the eaglet, flying near him. The boy grew into a strong man.
Page 9
As the eaglet grew it would always fly near the man. The man killed many beasts of the forest with his bow and arrows. He killed many enemies with his sword. Always the eagle was watching over him and guiding him.

The people of the land were so amazed by the man’s feats. They called him “Albanian”, which means, “Son of the Eagle”. His kingdom became known as Albania, Land of the Eagles.
