Long, long ago, the King of Heaven made all of the animals and people. The animals and people lived together peacefully. The King of Heaven was happy.

The King of Heaven wanted to give the animals and people gifts. So, he made rice for the people, and he made grass for the animals.

The King of Heaven called his genie. He said, “Take the rice, and spread it near the people. And take the grass, and spread it near the animals.”

The genie took the two bags. And he went to Earth. But the genie was lazy, and he wanted to return to Heaven quickly.

The genie dumped all of the rice and the grass out of the bags at the same time. He did not care where the rice and grass grew.

Suddenly, the genie noticed that the grass grew much faster than the rice. So the animals had a lot of food, but the people did not.
