Once upon a time, a poor farmer lived with his wife. Sometimes, the farmer went fishing in a big lake near his house. He always caught a lot of fish.

One day, the farmer went fishing. But when he got to his favorite fishing spot, the lake and all of the fish were gone! The farmer only saw a giant frog.
Page 3
The farmer was angry because the frog had drunk all the water from the lake. But the frog said, “Take me to your home, and I will give you many gifts.”

The frog stayed with the farmer and his wife for three months. While the frog was there, the farmer and his wife received many gifts. They became very rich.

One day, the frog said to the farmer, “Now, you must repay me for the gifts. You must speak to the governor. I want to marry his daughter.”

The frog sent many gifts to the governor. The governor asked, “Who are these from?” The farmer said, “They are from a frog who wants to marry your daughter.”

The governor was very greedy, so he told his daughter that she would soon get married. But he did not say that she would marry a frog!

The wedding day came. The governor’s daughter saw that her new husband was a frog. She became very angry.

The frog said to the governor’s daughter, “Take these scissors, and cut the skin on my back. My skin is very tight, and I am in pain.” She cut the frog’s skin.

After the last cut, a prince jumped out. He said, “Thank you for helping me. Now, we have to go to the stars. But this town’s people will always be rich now.”
