Once upon a time, a farmer had a dog. The dog was very good and strong. He helped the farmer hunt for food. And he protected the farmer’s family. Many years passed. The dog grew old. He could not run fast anymore. He was not strong.

One day, the farmer said to his wife, “The dog is not useful anymore. Tomorrow, I will kill him, and I will buy a young dog.” The farmer’s wife said, “He was always a good dog. Do not kill him now.” But the farmer said, “No. I will kill him. I do not want a useless dog.”

That night, the dog went into the forest. He visited his friend, the wolf. The dog told the wolf about the farmer’s plan. The wolf said, “I can help you. Tomorrow, the farmer and his wife will work in the farm. The wife will put her baby on a blanket.”

Then, the wolf said, “I will run out of the forest. I will try to take the baby. Then, you can chase me away.” The dog was happy. He said, “The farmer will think I am a great dog!” The next day, the farmer and his wife went into the garden. The wife put her baby on a blanket. The dog was lying on the ground. Suddenly, the wolf ran toward the baby!

The dog jumped up and protected the baby. He attacked the wolf! The wolf ran away, and the dog chased him. The dog had saved the baby! From then on, the farmer loved the dog. And the dog and the wolf stayed friends for a long time.
