Once upon a time, there was a woman. She was a nurse, and she was famous for her skill. One winter night, she was sleeping. Suddenly, someone knocked on her door. When she opened the door, she saw a tall, strong man.

The man said to the nurse, “Please come. My wife needs your help.” The nurse put on a warm coat, and she followed the man. The man and the nurse came to a river. The man raised his arms, and the waters opened. Then, the nurse knew that he was a water spirit.

The nurse was afraid, but she followed the water spirit into the river. He took her to a room. There was a woman. She was going to have a baby. The nurse helped the woman. After the baby was born, the woman said, “Do not take a big payment from the water spirit. Make him pay a normal price.”

The water spirit came. He took the nurse to a room. In the room, there was gold and jewels. The room was full of expensive things. The water spirit said, “What must I pay you?” The nurse said, “My price is one gold piece.” The water spirit tried to give the nurse more, but she said, “No.”

The water spirit smiled. He said, “You are not greedy. That is good.” The spirit gave the nurse one gold coin. Then, he gave her a bag of gold. He said, “This is not a payment; it is a gift.” Later, the nurse woke up in her bed. She thought, “It was all a dream.” But then, she saw the bag of gold on the table next to the bed.
