The Wolf Goes Fishing

One cold winter day, a hungry Fox saw a big wagon. In the back of the wagon, there was a small bag of fish. The Fox jumped up, and he took the bag of fish. Then, he ran away into the woods.

The Fox sat next to a lake, and he ate the fish. When he began to eat his last fish, a Wolf came to visit him. The Wolf asked, “What are you eating?” The Fox said, “This is a fish. I caught it in the lake.” The Fox was a tricky liar. Then, the Fox lied again. He said, “I caught it with my tail.”

The Wolf said, “I am hungry. Teach me how to fish with my tail!” The Fox said, “Just put your tail in the water, and wait.” The Wolf put his tail in the cold water. After one hour, the Wolf said, “I give up! There are no fish.” The Fox said, “Be patient. Soon, your tail will feel heavy.”

After another hour, the Fox said, “Does your tail feel heavy?” The Wolf said, “Yes, a little bit.” The Fox said, “That is a little fish. You must wait for a big fish!” So, the Wolf waited with his tail in the water. He did not see, but the water was freezing around his tail!

After another hour, the Wolf said, “Oh! My tail feels very heavy!” Then, the Fox said, “You have a big fish! Pull! Pull as hard as you can!” The Wolf pulled and pulled! Suddenly, the Wolf pulled up a big block of ice, and it hit him on the head. And that is why, even today, wolves do not like foxes.
