The Ancient Greeks loved to watch plays. They built theaters called amphitheaters. The Theatre of Aspendos was built in the year 155, almost 1900 years ago! You can visit this amphitheater in Turkey.

The Ancient Greeks were very smart. They created or improved things like advanced math, logic, and astronomy. We believe that Western Civilization was born in Ancient Greece.

The Ancient Greeks were also very tricky. One time in a war, they made a giant Trojan Horse, and gave it to their enemy as a present. But inside the horse, there were soldiers. That night, the Greek soldiers jumped out of the horse. The Greeks won the war while their enemy was sleeping!

The Ancient Greeks worshipped many gods. They wrote stories about the adventures of the gods. These stories are called myths. Some of the famous gods were Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, and Aphrodite.

Zeus was the king of all the gods. He lived on Mount Olympus. He was very strong. His weapon was a lightning bolt!

Poseidon was the god of the sea. He had a spear with three points called a trident. The trident was magical. It could control the oceans.

Apollo was the god of music, truth, and light. Apollo played a small golden harp called a lyre. The Ancient Greeks believed that Apollo carried the Sun through the sky every day.

Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. She arose from the sea near an island called Cyprus. If two people love each other, it is because of Aphrodite. She uses her power to make people fall in love.

Greeks also made beautiful buildings and statues. You can still see the Acropolis in Athens. The Acropolis has many beautiful buildings. The most famous one is the Parthenon.

The Roman Empire took control of Ancient Greece in 146 BC. But because Greek civilization was so great, the Romans copied many things from the Greeks.
