The Man Who Killed the Troll
Page 1
One Christmas evening, a knight was riding in the mountains. He knew that it was dangerous to be out on Christmas night, but he could not find an open inn.
Page 2
The knight had to slow his horse down; the trail was icy and dangerous. Then, he saw a beautiful woman come from behind a rock.
Page 3
The beautiful woman held a drinking horn up to the knight. She said, “You are cold and thirsty. Drink from this horn.”
Page 4
The knight knew that the beautiful woman was a troll. She was using magic to appear beautiful. The knight took the horn, and he poured out the drink.
Page 5
Some of the drink spilled onto the horse’s back, and it burned the horse’s hair. The horse reared up and let out a painful cry!
Page 6
The knight cut off the beautiful woman’s head, and the spell was broken. The woman changed into an ugly troll!
Page 7
Suddenly, other trolls yelled and came out from behind rocks. The knight rode away as fast as he could. The trolls chased him!
Page 8
The knight rode to a church, and he ran inside. The trolls stayed outside. They hit the walls and the doors, but they could not go into the holy place.
Page 9
The next morning, the trolls were gone. They had to return to their homes in the mountains before the sun came out.
Page 10
The knight took the drinking horn to the church in Mexio, and it stayed there for many years. But then, it was stolen and it was never found again.
