Once upon a time, a king said to a peasant, “You must come to be my servant at my castle.” The peasant did not want to go, but he had to do what the king said.

The peasant went to the castle. The king said, “You will be my servant for three years. After that time, you will be free to go.
Page 3
The peasant worked in the castle for almost three years. He always worked very hard, and the king was happy with the peasant’s work.

The king was worried. He said to his queen, “I will never find another servant who works so hard. I must find a way to keep him here.”
Page 5
The queen said, “Make him take ten rabbits into the field. If he does not bring all ten rabbits back, he must be your servant forever.”
Page 6
The next day, the king told the peasant to take ten rabbits into the field. He said, “If you do not return with all ten rabbits, you must be my servant forever.”

When the servant took the rabbits out of the castle’s gates, they all ran away. The peasant could not catch any of them!
