Long, long ago, there was a woman who had seven children. She was very poor, and her family was hungry.

The woman had a sister. Her sister was very rich. Finally, the poor woman asked her sister for help.

The poor woman said, “Do you have work that I can do? My children are very hungry.” The sister said, “Yes, you can make dough for my bread.”

The poor woman’s sister had a wicked heart. After the woman finished making the dough, her sister sent the woman away. She did not give her money or food!

Before the poor woman went home, the wicked sister said, “Come back tomorrow. You can make more dough for my bread.”

The woman was sad because she could not feed her children. But she was a clever woman. That night, she made a plan that would let her feed her family.

The next day, the poor woman returned to her wicked sister’s house. She made dough all day. But before she went home, she did not wash her hands.
