Once upon a time, there was a King.

The King was not very nice. He was selfish, and he was greedy. He loved eating, too. He was very fat.

One day, two men came to town. One man said, “We are the best tailors in the world. The clothes that we make are very beautiful.” The other man said, “And we want to make beautiful clothes for you.”

The King heard about the two tailors. He loved fancy clothes, so he invited the tailors to his castle. One man said, “You are a great King. We will make special clothes for you. But it will take time.” The other man said, “And the clothes are very expensive.”

The King said, “I will give you gold for the clothes.” So, the two men stayed in the castle. They had a very nice room. They stayed for a long time. Sometimes, the King asked, “When will my clothes be finished?” And the two men always said, “Soon.”

Finally, the King said, “I have not seen you work. I do not have new clothes. Tomorrow, I will put you in jail!” Then, one man said, “But your new clothes are ready. Look!” And the man pointed at a dummy. “Here are your new clothes!” The King got very angry.

The King said, “I see nothing! I will put you in jail!” Then, one man said, “Only smart people can see these beautiful clothes.” And the other man said, “If you are smart, you can see them.” The King smiled. He said, “Oh! I can see the clothes now.”

The King wanted to show everyone his new clothes, so he walked through the town. Everyone was very surprised! The King was walking through town in his underwear! But they did not say anything. They just giggled.

Then, one little girl saw the King. She yelled, “The King is naked!” Then, everyone in the town laughed at the King. The King thought, “I have been tricked!”

The King ran to his castle, but the two men were gone. So, the King put his old clothes on. He said, “I was a silly King. I was selfish and greedy.” Then he said, “From now on, I will be a good King.” And all of the people cheered.
