Karagoz and Hacivad were good friends. They were lazy, and they changed their simple jobs often. More than anything else, they enjoyed chatting with each other.

One day Hacivad came to Karagoz. He was all wet. Karagoz asked, “What happened to you?” Hacivad said, “You know, I am a boatman now. Well, you can guess that I had an adventure today!”

Karagoz smiled and said, “Tell me!” Hacivad said, “As you know, I take people across the Bosphorus Strait to Istanbul in my boat. Today, my passenger was a rich man, but he looked just like me.”

Hacivad said, “I was taking the rich man across the strait. I was looking at him, and he was looking at me. Suddenly, a big wave came and knocked us out of my boat.”

Hacivad said, “I was barely able to swim to the other side. And I carried the rich man with me. But unfortunately, the rich man died. I did not know what to do. But I was very cold and wet, so I put on the rich man’s fur coat.”

“I went into the town,” said Hacivad. “I wanted to find a police officer to help me. But suddenly, a golden coach stopped in front of me. The man in the coach said, ‘There you are! I am sorry I am late.’ He thought I was the rich man!”

Hacivad said, “I told him what happened, but he did not believe me. He thought that I was joking! Then, the coach brought us to one of the best palaces in Istanbul.”

Karagoz said, “Wow! You are so lucky! What happened next?” Hacivad said, “The palace had many servants. And there were three kitchens. Each kitchen had its own chef, too! I could not decide what to eat!”

“I finally chose my lunch,” said Hacivad. “Then, I went upstairs, and I took a nap. And while I was napping, I had the strangest dream.” Karagoz asked, “What happened in your dream?”

Hacivad said, “In my dream, a police officer was slapping my face. He was trying to wake me up. And when I finally woke up, I saw that I was still on the shore outside the town. ”Karagoz asked, “Where was the rich man? And the golden coach? And the palace with the three kitchens?” Then, Hacivad said, “Well, after I got knocked out of my boat, I swam to shore and passed out. All of that story was a dream!”
