Once upon a time, there was a lonely Carpenter. He liked to walk in the forest.

One day, the Carpenter found a piece of wood. He said, “Hmm. There is something special about this wood.” The Carpenter took the wood home.

The Carpenter used the wood to make a wooden puppet. When he finished, the puppet came to life! The Carpenter named the puppet Pinocchio.

Pinocchio was made of wood, but he could laugh, and talk, and play. The Carpenter loved Pinocchio, and he made many toys for him.

Pinocchio liked to play tricks. One day, Pinocchio hid the carpenter’s shoe. The carpenter asked, “Where is my shoe, Pinocchio?”

Pinocchio said, “I do not know.” Then, Pinocchio’s nose started to grow. The old man said, “If you lie, Pinocchio, your nose will grow.”

Pinocchio liked to learn new things. He said, “I want to go to school.” The Carpenter said, “You cannot go to school, Pinocchio. You are not a real boy, you are just a puppet!”

One night, Pinocchio was studying by himself. “I wish I were a real boy, then I would go to school.” he thought. While he was studying, he fell asleep.

A fairy suddenly appeared in the room. The fairy knew that Pinocchio deserved to go to school. She touched Pinocchio with her magic wand and Pinocchio's body started to change.

The next morning, the Carpenter saw Pinocchio. He said, “Pinocchio, you are a real boy!” Pinocchio said, “Now, I can go to school!” Then, Pinocchio and the Carpenter lived happily ever after.
