The Black School
Page 1
Somewhere in Iceland, there was a Black School. Students at this school learned witchcraft and sorcery. The school was in a dark room, deep inside a cave.
Page 2
Students studied witchcraft and sorcery here for seven years. They never went outside the room, and they never saw any light.
Page 3
There was no teacher. Students learned from magic books with letters that glowed like fire.
Page 4
They ate only once a day. A green hand came out of the wall, and it gave the students their food. When they finished eating, the green hand took the empty plates.
Page 5
After seven years, the students could try to leave. But the slowest student became the Devil’s servant, and he could never leave.
Page 6
Not very long ago, ten students studied at the Black School. One was named Samundur. Samundur said to the other students, “When we leave, I will be last. You will be safe!”
Page 7
Seven years later, it was time for these witches and sorcerers to leave the school. Samundur kept his promise; he ran out of the school behind all of the other students.
Page 8
When Samundur was near the door, the Devil appeared, and he tried to grab Samundur. But Samundur pointed behind, and he said, “Look! Another student follows me!”
Page 9
The Devil grabbed the student. But it was Samundur’s shadow! The Devil was tricked! After that, Samundur did not have a shadow. The Devil kept Samundur's shadow.
Page 10
Samundur traveled around the world doing witchcraft and sorcery. So, if you see someone who has no shadow, be very careful! He must be Samundur who tricked the Devil!
