There once was a farmer who had a special gift. The farmer could understand the language of the animals. Because this was a special gift, he kept it secret.

One day, the farmer heard his bull talking to his horse. The bull was very unhappy.

The bull said to the horse, “You are a very lucky animal. The farmer takes good care of you. He feeds you good food, and he rarely makes you work.”

Then, the bull said, “I have to work hard every day. I have to pull the heavy plow in the fields. All the while, the farmer whips me, and he demands that I work harder.”

The horse said to the bull, “If you want a day off, you should pretend to be sick. Do that tomorrow when the farmer comes for you.” Then, the farmer had an idea.

The next day, the bull pretended to be sick. The farmer said, “Well, because my bull is sick, I will have to use my horse.” The horse was shocked!

After working hard all day, and being whipped by the farmer, the horse was very tired. He could barely walk back to his stall in the barn.
