The master did not feed his old dog. The old dog had to search for scraps of food around the house and in the woods. He was very hungry and weak.

The old dog was very sad because he could not help his master anymore. Once day, he left the house. He went into the woods to die.

As the old dog was walking in the woods, a wolf saw him. The wolf asked, “Why are you so sad?” The old dog said, “My master does not need me anymore.”

The wolf had respected the dog for many years. The wolf had often tried to eat the man’s sheep and chickens, but the dog had always chased him away.

The wolf said, “You have always been a good dog for that man. When you were younger, you were very strong. And I know that you are still brave. I will help you.”
