Once upon a time, there was a princess. One day, she met a handsome young man. She loved him, but she knew that she should not marry him. She said, “I should marry a prince.”

Even though he was not a prince, the princess secretly married the man. The next year, she had a baby. The king was very angry. He said, “I must find your husband and punish him!”

The king thought, “The man who married my daughter must be handsome. So I will trick him. I will not say that I want to punish him; I will say that he can become a prince.”

The king made an announcement. He said, “The man who secretly married the princess can become a prince.” Only the king knew the truth; the man was going to be punished.
